The Master of Arts in Teaching (MAT) program at the Johns Hopkins School of Education (SOE) embodies the spirit of the University in its unwavering pursuit of excellence through its commitment to a rigorous program that uniquely prepares aspiring teachers to embrace the challenges of diverse classrooms. Students work with an adviser to complete a program of study that fulfills the MSDE requirements for certification as a teacher in Maryland. The MAT requires a minimum of 39 credits, and specific additional content-area course work which may be needed due to differences in undergraduate preparation.
